Amazon is jumping on the viral bandwagon. The streaming giant is partnering up with the Kin Community, which is a content creation company that specializes in shining a light on female talent. The talent used to populate the upcoming Amazon show will be DIY stars generated from the popular video-platform YouTube. Two young YouTube artists already on tap include viral baker, Rosanna Pansino and popular beauty vlogger, Teni Panosian (featured in the banner picture).
In this partnership, the Kin Community will produce a six-episode series called Overhaul, where popular YouTubers will get their homes made overCEO of the Kin Community, Michael Wayne spoke on this new project,
“The goal with this show is to both inspire and entertain. It’s unique in that it combines the power of Kin’s creator community, the award-winning quality of our production studio and commerce.”
Amazon is going to use this as an opportunity to cross-promote products in their stores. As you watch these shows, the products that are highlighted will become easily accessible for viewers to purchase.
Director of Home Innovation for Amazon, Kristiana Hemlick spoke on this innovative cross-pollination between entertainment and sales by stating,
“Amazon Home is constantly looking to innovate and find ways to bring our customers inspiration when searching for products. The ‘Overhaul’ series is a great opportunity to provide our customers with some curation and guidance when searching through our large selection of products and we continue to look for new and different ways to do that. … This is the first time Amazon has had a co-branded storefront tied to a video series.”
Although a launch date has not yet been set, it is heavily rumored that the rollout will take place sometime around Christmas, just in time for the heavy shopping season.
