Which Live TV Streaming Service Has Best Customer Satisfaction?

Cutting the cord is becoming the norm. With the growth of over-the-top (OTT) platforms these past couple of years, streaming services have rapidly evolved. One of the greatest evolutions is the rise of live television streaming. Many mass commnuication companies are centering their business plans around this concept as they dip their toes into the world of OTT.

From Cloud storage to DVR to exclusive content, some streaming services offer more than others. With so many streaming services and so little time, you must be wondering which are the best. Luckily, the American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) took a poll to see which customers were most satisfied with their streaming service. Here is what they found.

Which Streaming Service Has the Happiest Customers?

Before diving into the results, there are a few bullet points you might want to keep in mind. For one, this survey does not include popular services such as YouTube TV, Pluto, or fubo TV.

With that being said, they did cover the top five streaming services for live television and current programming watchers. Gaining the lead out of the pack? PlayStation Vue.

These findings are interesting because PlayStation Vue is the most expensive of the bunch. Not to mention, they also have the shortest free trial period of just five days. However, you must get what you pay for. That’s why their subscribers are the happiest cord cutters with a 78% approval rating.

What is PlayStation Vue?

PlayStation Vue comes in multiple tiers. The cheapest of the bunch is Access Plan. For $44.99 per month, you get access to big-ticket channels on premium cable such as ESPN, Disney, and HGTV.

For just $5 more, sports fanatic can upgrade to the Core Plan. This will also carry ESPN News, NFL Network, NBA TV, and MLB Network.

Next up is the Elite package. It comes in at $59.99 per month. Here, you get all the sports add-ons. However, you also get access to many popular movie networks. With PlayStation Vue Elite, you can watch FXM and Epix Hits.

Unfortunately, if you want the premium movie channels, you need to boost your package up to the top tier–Ultra at $79.99 per month. Under the Ultra umbrella, you will be granted the rights to watch HBO, Showtime, and more.

PlayStation Vue Perks and Restrictions

PlayStation Vue does allow for DVR storage. However, some of the premium content is excluded. So, no saving the Game of Thrones finale or DVRing a college game on ESPN.

While PlayStation Vue has hundreds of local affiliates, a majority of them also are not available through the DVR function. So, be sure you are aware of what your exact DVR needs are and if PlayStation Vue can accommodate them before subscribing.

This service is compatible with many voice control services, including Alexa. You are also able to create profiles so that users on your account can create their own DVR schedules.

Customer Satisfaction for Other Popular Streaming Services

While PlayStation Vue customers were the happiest, they were indeed paying the most. There were still over four streaming services polled and their customers were also quite pleased.

Here is how the poll broke down:

  • PlayStation Vue – 78%
  • Hulu – 76%
  • YouTube – 75%
  • Sling TV -74%
  • DIRECTV NOW – 69%

What’s even more interesting to note is that these polls were taken back in March 2019. Since then, DIRECTV NOW has seen a price increase. We wonder if their rating will plummet or if they’re going to step up to justify the price hike like PlayStation Vue?
