With the modeling industry catching flak recently over the use of rail-thin models, the fashion industry has started to change the way they handle such a sensitive topic. Lately, models the size of average, everyday women to plus-sized ladies have become more welcome in the fashion industry. Amazon Prime Video has jumped onto this trend with the announcement of a more socially conscious fashion show.
Fashion Hero is scheduled to debut in this coming fall. This one-hour show scours the world looking for models of different shapes, sizes, and races. The show is hosted by Brooke Hogan, daughter of professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, who has admitted to fighting body image issues her entire life. The former singer and reality star will oversee the competition that will be judged by a panel that consists of Johana Hernandez, Ximena Valero, Christopher Bates, and Anna Scholz.
The concept of this show has already been tested online and through social media by the Canada and Beauty World Search. The company started an eight-part series that received rave reviews.
