The Netflix content mass exodus is almost upon us. Even The Office will be leaving Netflix in July 2021 to join a future NBC streaming service! Netflix’s worst nightmares have come true. Streaming wars have brought an apocalypse to the red and white brand. Here is what’s going to be saying bye-bye to Netflix to go chillin’ elsewhere come August 1st.
Why is There a Netflix Exodus?
Right now, the streaming field is pretty full. All of the multi-billion dollar media companies already have live television streaming services that are just as, if not more, expensive than the cable packages they offer. On top of the live television aspect of the streaming wars, we also have the a la carte effect.
Netflix started a monster when it became the most popular streaming service. Now, the whole world is onto niche-based services. This is causing individual networks on broadcast television to become standalone entities as a subscription-based service through devices.
Due to this shift, all of the companies who were making a decent chunk of change by lending their content out to Netflix are pulling out the pieces that propped Netflix up in the first place.
With that being said, next month won’t see any huge moves yet. The most popular release that will be leaving Netflix in July 2019 will be the entire Pretty Little Liars series. All seven seasons will be gone by the end of the month. Other than that, you’re seeing a lot of movie titles going, including Austin Powers, which we announced just last month as coming to Netflix!
