Four seasons in, and Mozart in the Jungle is no more. The 2016 Golden Globe winner for Best Comedy Series and Lead Comedy Actor, has been given the axe. The show centers around the life of a hotshot young conductor for the New York Symphony.
The popular show was executive produced by Roman Coppola, Will Graham, Jason Schwartzman, and Paul Weitz. The four spoke about the cancellation in a joint statement,
“We are so proud of the four seasons we made of this show and are grateful to the cast, crew, fans and Amazon for writing this symphony with us. We hope people will keep finding the show for years to come.”
This cancellation comes on the heels of a shakeup in Amazon management. Roy Price was let go four months ago amid sexual harassment allegations. These are the same sort of allegations that have plagued other Amazon favorites like Transparent.
Former NBC Entertainment alumus, Jennifer Salke, took his place and started canceling a lot of Amazon content. It will be interesting to see what else does not make the cut under her thumb.
