From Bridesmaids to Ghostbusters, female ensemble casts have become a huge hit in Hollywood. However, before the #MeToo Campaign, as well as the public outrage about unequal pay among genders, one movie started this women’s equality movement.
Back in 1992, A League of Their Own hit the movie theatres. Starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, and Rosie O’Donnell, this movie took place during World War II. With men off to war, women stepped in to play baseball.
Battling harassment and ridicule, the women showed that ladies can play baseball too.
Now this movie is getting ready to become a comedy series for Amazon. Tapping Mozart in the Jungle producer, Will Graham and Broad City producer/star, Abbi Jacobson to executive produce the show, this remake will have a new take on the same classic story. No word yet on if any characters will return or what the release date will be. However, we will keep you posted.
