Following Chelsea Handler deciding to call it quits on her Netflix talk show last year, David Letterman is set to premiere his latest Netflix show later this week. In January 12, the former late night talk show host with debut My Guest Needs No Introduction. His first guest really doesn’t need one. It’s the 44th President of the United States, Barrack Obama.
Each episode of the show will center around David Letterman and one guest partaking in interviews both inside and outside of the studio. Like his old CBS show, this Netflix series will feature segments where David takes it to the streets to perform interviews and skits as well.
As explained through its official synopsis:
David Letterman is out of retirement and returning to television with a six-episode, 60-minute Netflix series–“My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.” The first episode will premiere on Friday, January 12, 2018, with each subsequent episode streaming monthly from February to June. Dave’s lineup of influential guests include George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey, Howard Stern, and President Barack Obama.
Netflix is excited about this roll-out. The Chief Content Officer of the streaming giant, Ted Sarandos, spoke about this merger with Letterman stating,
“Just meeting David Letterman was a thrill; imagine how exciting it is for me to announce that we will be working together. David Letterman is a true television icon, and I can’t wait to see him out in the wild, out from behind the desk and interviewing the people he finds most interesting. We’ll have to see if he keeps the beard.”
