A large portion of the population never watches TV in real time. That’s why one of the greatest perks of cable television is DVR. It gives you the freedom to watch what you want, when you want.
Not having DVR was a huge drawback to cutting the cord, and streaming services knew this. That is why PlayStation Vue rolled out DVR and continues to make improvements such as on-the-go DVR. Meanwhile DIRECTV NOW ended the beta testing phase of their DVR process and looks forward to a national roll-out.
With Hulu newer to the live-streaming world than its counterparts, they didn’t want to come in last place in the DVR game. Since they went live, Hulu has made improvements to make them stand out from the pack. Now, they are making a huge leap.
You are now able to DVR HBO shows AND movies. Prior to this update, if you missed an HBO show or movie live, you had to wait until it would appear in the on-demand bucket before you could watch it. Now, you can set the show or movie to record just like you would any other network.
