True Blood may be a few years into their run and The Vampire Diaries may be done, but Netflix is looking to keep the vampire genre alive. They plan on doing this by signing on Vampire Diaries alum, Ian Somerhalder, and creating a 10 episode, hour-long series called V-Wars.
President of IDW Entertainment, one of the production companies involved with this project, stated,
“We could not have dreamed of a better choice than Ian Somerhalder to bring his keen understanding of this genre from his years of starring in The Vampire Diaries to lead the cast of V-Wars as Dr. Luther Swann and to be a creative force on this series, as well as to serve as a director this season. We are thrilled to partner with Netflix to bring the multifaceted world that Jonathan Maberry created to audiences worldwide.”
Somerhadler played Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries. He started to take on a director role in seasons 7 and 8. Now, along with his wife, Nikki Reed, the twosome have a production company called Rare Bird Productions that has signed a multi-deal agreement with Warner Brothers.
