Serena Williams has grown up in the spotlight. Herself and her sister, Venus, became tennis phenomenons back in the 1990’s and has owned the tennis world since, even playing each other in the finals of the 2017 Australian Open. Now, Serena is opening up about her life in the HBO Exclusive, Being Serena.
The production will follow the journey of a new mother making a successful return to the court while shedding light on her rocket launch to fame. Being Serena will cover the woman, the sister, the mother, the player, the superstar.
This production will be co-produced by HBO Sports and IMG’s Original Content Group. Co-President of IMG, Mark Shapiro, spoke about this new partnership between the two media companies and the tennis superstar,
“Serena Williams is a force unlike any other. Her entire life is one of the hero’s journey, and it has been a privilege to work with her as she enters this next phase. HBO was an incredible partner in developing a unique look into Serena’s world, and we look forward to sharing this all-access story with the world in May.”
Slated to air Wednesday night, May 2nd at 10 PM, the show will become available on the following platforms:
- HBO On-Demand (Cable providers’ on-demand service or through the HBO website with cable credential)
- HBO Go (Cable credentials on an app)
- HBO Now (OTT HBO service)
