Scalzi’s Old Man’s War to Get the Netflix Treatment

As Netflix continues to pour more money into original content, the streaming giant shelled out some serious cash to obtain the rights to turn the book, Old Man’s War into a screenplay.

This modern sci-fi classic was penned by John Scalzi. The author is a three-time Hugo Award recipient. This includes nabbing the honor of “Best Novel” in 2013 for his book Reshirts. Much in line with the genre of Old Man’s War, Scalzi was also President of the Science Fiction Writers of America.

The literary work getting the Netflix treatment, Old Man’s War’s official synopsis reads as,

John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First he visited his wife’s grave. Then he joined the army.

The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce—and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So: we fight. To defend Earth, and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding.

As of press time, no release date or production schedule has been announced.
