Amazon has started really pushing voice controls on their newest versions of Fire TV. Now, the latest update to the TV comes with the ability for 3rd party apps (Such as streaming services) to use Amazon’s talking genius, Alexa.
Alexa comes with the capabilities of fast forward, rewind, stop, and pause on apps including:
- CBS All Access
- NBC News
- PlayStation Vue
You can even go as far as to tell Alexa to open up ESPN in PlayStation Vue.
Richard Irving, VP of Production for Hulu stated,
“This is an extremely exciting time in the world of digital voice assistants. Voice capabilities are exploding due, in large part, to leaders in the space like Amazon opening their doors to 3rd-party developers, creating endless voice-driven possibilities. We are particularly fired up about how these technologies will simplify TV viewing. That’s why we are very happy to announce today that, beginning this Fall, Hulu will be among the first 3rd-party entertainment services to support Amazon’s digital voice assistant, Alexa.”
