New Updates for DIRECTV NOW Beta Testers

If you are a beta tester for DIRECTV NOW, you may experience some issues over the next day or two. That’s because the streaming service is bringing upgrades to their system.

Here is the official e-mail the AT&T owned company sent out,

Hello Testers,

Tonight we will be upgrading a few things.  This upgrade will run from 12 – 6 AM PST.  During this time you will still be able to beta test as usual, although you might experience intermittent streaming issues.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thanks again for testing along with us.

One possible upgrade is switching the quality from 720p 30 fps to 1080p 60fps. As of right now, Dallas CBS affiliates reflect this change on their stream. However, no other affiliate has followed suit yet. So a complete aspect ratio upgrade is currently just speculation. Other than that, DIRECTV NOW has been mum about what changes may happen.

While they just rolled out beta testing on Roku, DIRECTV NOW had to stop taking beta testers. However you can download the app in multiple devices and try signing up in case the ban gets lifted.
