Cutting the cord is the future. That statement is backed up with research conducted by Digital TV Research. A new report by the group concluded that Netflix is projected to have 128 million subscribers by the year of 2022. With 89 million subscribers at the end of 2016, that would make for a 44% increase in subscriptions.
Further projections include international customers are expected to outnumber U.S. customers by early next year. The research company predicted that North America and Western Europe will comprise of 72% of Netflix’s total subscribers by 2022. In the Asian Pacific, subscriber count is expected to triple to about 10 million.
Digital TV Research stated in their report, “Netflix expanded to 130 more countries in January 2016 to bring its total to 190 countries. The 130 new countries will have 14 million subscribers combined by 2022, up from 3 million at end-2016. The 2022 figure corresponds to 11% of Netflix’s global total.”
