Sports and cord cutting are still working out the kinks as to what the relationship can be in the future, Hulu is trying to step out in front of the pack.
With Hulu, you will be able to personalize the whole March Madness tournament. The streaming giant will be sending out an update that allows you to track the men’s and women’s teams you want to watch. From there, Hulu gives you personalized recommendations based on the teams you selected.
Richard Irving, Vice President of Product, explained,
“Beginning Monday after Selection Sunday, if you subscribe to Hulu With Live TV we’ll show you a team picking experience where you’ll be able to select the NCAA men’s and women’s teams you want to follow closely throughout the tournament. Adding a team to My Stuff will surface those games at the top of your lineup and automatically record them. We’ll also have dedicated collections for all of the live games and highlights.”
“And, for the first time ever, we’re launching game start notifications on iOS and Android. We’ll send you mobile notifications alerting you when your selected teams’ games are about to start. Whether you’re casually keeping tabs on your college, or a March Madness fanatic, you’ll never miss a moment of the Madness.”
This is a big step by Hulu. They are clearly trying to provide a better experience for their subscribers. Perhaps they are trying to learn from the mistakes of Amazon’s March Madness blues last year.
