All streaming services are vying to be the top choice for cord-cutters everywhere. Nowadays, there’s a huge emphasis on the word “everywhere.” The top three agendas of all the major streaming service is to:
- Create More Content
- Sign on More Local Affiliates
- Expand Globally
Amazon, who is in the midst of re-branding their video service, is one of the top streaming companies looking to expand. They are attempting to accomplish this by creating loyal fanbases for original content, renewing a lot of popular shows.
Earlier this year, they made their intentions known by striking a deal with India, and then rolling out original content catered to the Middle Eastern country. Now, the show that they used to springboard this expansion into Indian territory, Inside Edge, has been picked up for a second season.
Centered around the sport of cricket, the series has become a huge hit not only India but in other countries as well. Following the success, Prime Video confirmed that the second season will roll out sometime in 2019.
Director of Content at Amazon Prime Video India, Vijay Subramaniam, stated,
“We are thrilled to announce an all-new season of Amazon’s first Indian Prime Original, Inside Edge. The first season of Inside Edge received a tremendously positive response. We are happy to work with Excel Media & Entertainment again on Inside Edge Season 2.”
Excel Media and Entertainment Head, Riteish Sidhwani, echoed these sentiments,
“We have had a successful collaboration with Amazon Prime Video, starting with Amazon’s first Original, Inside Edge which was hugely successful. We are excited on the commencement of Season 2 of Inside Edge and are looking forward to our collaboration yet again with Amazon in bringing the next season to Prime Video.”
