Free Local Streaming Hits L.A.

One of the biggest reasons people are apprehensive about cutting the cord is because they love their local news and their local sports teams. That is why streaming services have been racing to get as many local affiliates on board as they can.

This is in thanks to a company called Didja.Didja streams locals in Phoenix (PhoenixBTV) and San Francisco Bay (BayAreaBTV). It allows you to watch many local networks for free. For an additional monthly price, you can also add DVR as a service. Now, Didja is coming to LA, hitting counties such as:

  • Inyo
  • Kern
  • Los Angeles
  • Orange
  • Riverside
  • San Bernadino

General Manager of NRJ Television Stations of Southern California, Dennis J. Davis, stated,

“Many of our viewers are members of Southern California’s Asian communities, and they depend on us to for news and entertainment programming in their native language. SoCalBTV offers access to our channels on smartphones, which are increasingly used to watch TV by people of all cultures. This method of program delivery helps us reach our audience anywhere they are in the Los Angeles DMA.”

Following this roll-out Didja is looking toward expanding their service in:

  • Chicago
  • Houston
  • New York City
  • Washington, D.C.
