Fire TV Has New Commands

Amazon is looking to have your voice activate almost anything and everything by implementing Alexa into all of its products. This includes their Fire TV.

More major television stations have become Alexa-capable. Now, the same can be done for these network’s individual apps on your Fire TV as well.

With your voice, you can now summon the following channels and services through your Fire TV:

  • Bravo
  • CBS
  • Hulu
  • NBC
  • PlayStation Vue
  • Showtime

Once upon a time, these channels would load by just asking Alexa. Now, you can summon and control the apps through Alexa.

Hulu users can say things like:

  • Alexa, play The Handmaid’s Tale
  • Alexa, play ESPN.

Richard Irving, Vice President of Product for Hulu, spoke on this breakthrough technology,

“This is an extremely exciting time in the world of digital voice assistants. Voice capabilities are exploding due, in large part, to leaders in the space like Amazon opening their doors to 3rd-party developers, creating endless voice-driven possibilities. We are particularly fired up about how these technologies will simplify TV viewing. That’s why we are very happy to announce today that, beginning this Fall, Hulu will be among the first 3rd-party entertainment services to support Amazon’s digital voice assistant, Alexa.”
