The plot thickens in the complicated Disney-Netflix relationship. Just a month after the release of the second season of Jessica Jones, it was announced the show would be coming back for a third season. Jessica Jones is a member of the Marvel cast of characters, which is owned by Disney. Disney let it be known that in 2019 they would no longer give Netflix content that was a theatrical release. That is because Disney plans on starting their own streaming service.
In fact, the House of the Mouse was even looking to create niche services. One would think a Marvel app would be the next logical step. Either way, Disney already started experimenting with niche services by rolling out ESPN Plus.
It will be interesting to see how the relationship between these two media powerhouses will continue to unfold.
