Late night television icon, David Letterman, is bringing his brand of humor over to Netflix. With the success of Chelsea Handler’s weekly talk show, Chelsea, Netflix is expanding their talk show offerings with a six episode series featuring Jay Leno’s rival.
Much like Chelsea, and old Letterman episodes, David will take his show to the streets and get on-the-field answers for some of his segments.
Chief Content Officer of Netflix, Ted Serandosm spoke on the new Netflix-Letterman marriage, and gave a bit more insight into the show’s format,
“David Letterman is a true television icon, and I can’t wait to see him out in the wild, out from behind the desk and interviewing the people he finds most interesting. We’ll have to see if he keeps the beard.”
While David will get out from behind the desk, each of the six episodes scheduled to be recorded will have one long-form conversation with a singular guest.
David Letterman also spoke about this opportunity, stating,
“I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix. Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely.”
This show has yet to be named, but has a target drop date of 2018.
