HBO has officially renewed its huge hit, Big Little Lies, for a second season. The eight-episode series was an Emmy’s success, including nabbing the Outstanding Limited Series award. Cutting back by one episode to seven next season, the show stars Hollywood powerhouses Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. Due to the fact that this is the second season, going forward the show will be classified as a Drama rather than a Limited Series.
Based on the novel of the same name, Big Little Lies, was written by Liane Moriarty and follows three women who seem to live picture perfect. However, underneath the surface they are entangled in a series of crimes.
This development has been long rumored after the instantaneous success last year. Not wanting to mess with a successful formula, the series will continue to be made in conjunction with Blossom Films, HBO Enterprises, and Warner Brothers Television for global distribution.
While Big Little Lies is available for HBO cable subscribers who can also use their cable credentials to catch the latest season on HBO Go, it also available for cord-cutters who sign up for the HBO NOW service.
