Amazon Offers Discounts to Medicaid Patients

Amazon is giving back to the senior community. In an attempt to reach out to the elderly, the delivery company/streaming service is making their ever-popular Amazon Prime subscription cheaper for Medicaid patients. If you have Medicaid, you are qualified to receive Amazon Prime for as low as $5.99 per month. That breaks down to less than $72 per year, which is a nice drop from the normal annual rate of $99. The $5.99 per month is an even bigger cut from the $12.99 price increase set to happen for monthly subscribers (as opposed to yearly).

With Amazon Prime you have full access to:

  • Audible
  • Prime Music
  • Prime Now
  • Prime Photos
  • Prime Reading
  • Prime Video
  • Two-Day Shipping
  • Cheap Add-On Items

While to some this initiative seems to be going hand-in-hand with Amazon rebranding their Prime division. In fact, the Seattle-based company recently shortened the name of their streaming service to simply Prime Video. However, last year Amazon lowered their prices for those with EBT cards. It just seems that the internet giant is trying to continue their charitable deeds. Amazon claims they want more to enjoy the perks having Amazon.

Vice President of Amazon Prime, Greg Greeley weighed in on this new endeavor,

“We know when people try Prime they love it, because they save time and money with low prices on millions of items, unlimited access to premium videos and music, and fast, convenient delivery. We designed this membership option for customers receiving government assistance to make our everyday selection and savings more accessible, including the many conveniences and entertainment benefits of Prime.”
